Alright, so. I've been house/dog-sitting since last night after a crazy, crazy, crazy work night. I'm blaming the full moon for the 3 deaths, 7 babies(!) and 70 discharge charts I had to do.

Dad and I left at like 3, got downtown by 4. Line was... pretty long even by then, as expected for Gen Admission (ick)), but was ridiculously long by the times the doors opened at 5:30. I spent the hour and a half reading a Burn Notice novel, so I was happy. Dad was bored. At one point, one of the security guards (a friend of ours, we see him at a lot of concerts and Dad sees him at Ravens games all the time) showed up talked for a few minutes. He said he'd see what he could do for us seat-wise, but we weren't expecting anything to come of his offer. Got in with no problem once the doors opened. Dad and I headed in, saw the security guard waving from the front - he'd saved us two front row seats on the side. Awesome! (Also, it gets better!)

Chilled til just shy of 7, when the first (and pretty much irrelevant to me) band started. Unwed Sailor. They don't sing. They play like there should be a song and you sit there waiting for the guy to start singing, but it never comes. I almost fell asleep (because I brilliantly stayed up til 5:30 reading) and was glad when they were done.

Mat Kearney (<3) was up next. I was mostly there for him, honestly. He hasn't been around since I saw him at Recher in... 2009? Yeah. And that was an awesome, amazing concert. He played Fire & Rain, Nothing Left To Lose, Undeniable, Breathe In Breathe Out, Closer To Love, Here We Go, Runaway Car, All I Need, and Hey Mama (which is the single for his new CD, Young Love). During Runaway Car (I think, anyway), he stood on the rail (that isn't normally there) like he did at Recher the last time I saw him. Apparently, he does this a lot. It was a wide gap, and as he later claimed "my jeans were too tight to make that one," and he nearly fell. Shook it off and started running around the crowd. He'd jumped down on the other side of the pavilion, circled around the back, and came up right next to us. He stopped right next to me and I got an awesome, awesome hug. He tossed an arm around my shoulder and sang for a little before he jumped back up on stage and kept going. I spent the rest of his set grinning like an idiot (Dad and Security Guard friend teased me endlessly for this) but I did score the setlist. A delusional part of my brain took this as being remembered from the last show, but that was... a while ago and entirely unlikely. <3 <3 <3

Back on track. Owl City started around 9, played til 10:30. Set-list - from keeping track, cause they weren't using paper set-lists or else I would have obtained one - is as follows:

The Real World, The Tip Of The Iceberg, Deer In The Headlights, Swimming In Miami, Umbrella Beach, Rainbow Veins, Tidal , Honey & The Bee, The Bird & The Worm, Lonely Lullaby, January 28 1986, Galaxies, Angels, Meteor Shower, On The Wing, Hello Seattle, Plant Life, Alligator Sky and Yacht Club. Encored with How I Became The Sea and If My Heart Was A House.

Most of those are from the new CD, All Things Bright & Beautiful, which came out on Tuesday. So I didn't know some of them, but it still was pretty awesome. Every time he stopped to talk to us he started laughing and was like "This is cozy! Aw, you're so cute, Baltimore!" We stuck around for a while afterward hoping to catch Mat - didn't bother trying for Adam Young (Owl City (who kind of reminds me of Kendall from Big Time Rush, and kind of also Brian Kinney from QaF) due to the swarms of people with that idea. Never managed to catch Mat and eventually had to give up.

Security did an awesome job of keeping people out of the aisles (always awesome!) and most of the people there were too young to be drunk, so that was also a plus. Got some awesome pictures and had a blast, event if it was toasty for a while.

So, still sick. Which sucks, majorly. I've had a collective five hours of sleep over the last two nights because I can't stop coughing. It's so annoying. I can't wait to not be sick. I have, however, watched like every Scooby Doo episode ever (Where are You!, Scooby Doo Show, and what was released on DVD for New Scooby Doo Movies) along with most of the movies (Boo Brothers, Reluctant Werewolf, Ghoul School, Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and Alien Invaders) along with the only one of the CGI movies I can stand to watch (Mystery Begins). And, no I don't care that I'm 20 years old and watching Scooby Doo. At all.

It was also funny watching everyone freak out over the two inches of snow we got down here. Schools closed all over the place and it was funny knowing that if I were still in Frostburg, we most assuredly would have still had classes. And hearing people whine about 25/30 degrees being cold is just laughable.

Did get a book read in my state of forced-insomnia, though. Seven Tears Into The Sea = Done.

Hopefully I'll be not-sick enough to go to work on Friday.

So I'm sick again. WTF is up with this? I spend 3 months at school living in fairly close contact with something like 300 people and don't get sick even once, and then I come home and live with 3 people and end up sick twice within 3 weeks? WTF immune system?

Also, I'm kind of annoyed that I got sucked into going to work tonight. Aside from getting paid. Not pissed about that. but, I didn't feel good and I was supposed to train this new girl on how to assemble Mom/Baby charts, and we got to work and found out she wasn't there. It was the entire reason I was working tonight - luckily we ended up with a shit ton of discharges so at least I had something to do all night. Now I have to train her tomorrow while also trying to do my job?

I have a few more challenge things to do for my New Years comment!fic thing. No worries - I'm just being slow, they'll get done. And apparently I have one from like... October that I forgot about. Oops. And I also have fan-art to make and something like 12 fic ideas running around in my head that are not helping the constant state of headache I am presently in. I also need to post my Yuletide fic - Zombieland - and edit one of the comment!fic responses I did get finished and then post that.

All of that would be a lot easier if I didn't feel like something was trying to claw out the sides of my throat.

So last night was my last night at work. I'm already missing the paychecks. But it was nice, before we actually like started working (which was not a good game plan since I was doing two other jobs aside from my normal job) one of my co-workers brought us dinner. And my boss got me an awesomely delicious cake. And everyone chipped in and got be a Barnes & Noble gift-card (awesomely awesome choice xD). And lots of hugs were had. And my boss was like 'You'll help out when you're on break from school? Yes? Please say yes?' And the poor girl who has to work weekends was mourning the loss of Birth Certificate stuff being set up for her since I've been getting everything ready on Friday nights.

And, Awesome!Prof finally got back to me about my Frostburg issues. So yay! I can cross something of the lengthy list of things I have to do before... Friday. Crap. That is so not far away enough.

Okay, loooong night at work.

We have this big audit thing going on that is completely ridiculous. There are two of us - the only ones who know how to print legal charts - working on this project. 150 charts in 2 weeks. Doesn't sound bad, no?

It is. I did 18 of them tonight. It took six hours and 9+ packs of paper. For those of you good at math, that is more than 4,500 sheets of paper.

The funny part? The hospital I work at? "Claims" - please note my emphasis on this word - to be PAPERLESS. *snort*

I don't even want to know how many trees I killed.

God forbid we could do this stupid thing electronically.

So, I got trained for job number 8463 tonight at work. I am now certified and mostly trained to go up to the floors and do Birth Certificate paperwork - going through the charts and interviewing the parents for any other information. I consider this an interesting new assignment for Friday nights.

Supposedly starting at noon tomorrow we're going to be hit with Snowpocalypse: The Sequel, possibly adding another 12-20 inches to our already substantial compilation. That'll be fun. I hope I hope I hope school is closed again on Wednesday. It would suck otherwise.

I'm almost done a new GH fic and I am fighting hard to keep from writing Cousland/Zevran fic. I have resisted thus far. At least consciously - I'm fairly certain I had a dream last night that involved Zevran being blamed for taking the Great Agra Treasure of Sherlock Holmes 'Sign of Four' so my subconscious may need some more convincing. *shakes head*

Well wishes to Bradford Anderson, as well, who had surgery today for the Achilles tendon he tore during the SoapCruise thingy. D: Poor guy. Though I am curious as to how it will be explained on the show.

So, the lady I've been covering for the last month or two at work is back now. I don't know why she was out, other than that it was for surgery of some sort, quite possibly because she had the most boring job on the planet. But, that job is now obsolete anyway, so they have her doing new things and they're training me for something else entirely because someone doing the job I will be trained for was an idiot and got fired. Until they permanently fill that position, it's mine. Once that happens, they'll train me for something else. I feel like I'm trapped in a pinball machine.

So, one final down. 145 Health questions. Guh. I was the first one done, as is apparently always the case. We were allowed to use notes, but I barely needed mine. Got a perfect score on my paper on the Celluloid Closet.

Anth was awesome. I'm sad to have that class end. We spent the class coloring and doing sign language, lol. It tied into what we were doing, I swear.

So, I just have my AMV and Music classes tomorrow. I'm thinking about asking if I even have to take the music final, as I have like ridiculous amounts of extra credit accumulated. But, I'll probably still have to take it. Tomorrow night is also the work Christmas party, which is cooled, as I get paid to go to it. :3

Mon, Wens and Thrus next week are finals and then I'm done til the beginning of February.

Next Tuesday is the trip to Frostburg, which will be interesting, for sure. I was talking with Awesome!Prof about that today, he was telling me which buildings were which and all. Coolness.

Torchwood: Bay of the Dead = Done.

Man, BDS2 would be showing today (and I would so be there) but it's not playing anywhere closer than Philidephia. I fail to understand the concept of 'limited release' It makes it hard for people who'd kill to see it to do so. -_-

I've gotten more hours at work now. Dayshift person is out on leave for at least the next six weeks, so i am now doing her job. It is basically everything I didn't do before. Before, I did inpatient charts. Now I do ER's. Which are... interesting. Funny things happen to people. Sadly, I am not allowed to say them. Damn rules.

Okay, so last week, I posted about the apparent immaturity of... well, damn near everyone I see. College kids and the 'children' I evidently work with.

Let's take a step back here. A few months ago - in the middle of the summer when I had nothing but time - I was pulled into my Boss's office and informed that in order to hire someone else (we shall call her L) to do something important, they had to cut hours. And those hours were mine. Okay. Important. I'll live. I won't be happy, but I'll live. Since then I've been roughly working 8 hours a week, except on occasions when I'm covering a job no one else knows how to do.

Now, moving forward, L is constantly whining about how she can't do what they hired her for, is slacking on her duties, is doing stuff they did not, in fact, hire her for and is also preparing to go on maternity leave in... March? I think. I don't really care (though I have been informed that when she does leave, I can have her hours and cover her job - which I am not trained to do - she also can't train me because, um, hello, we work different shifts -_-.)

Anyway, tonight I was informed that she wants to use my desk. This is the layout of the room we work in. Blue dots represent nightshift, green, day shift. The one marked T, is a dayshift worker who coddles L. The one marked P is evidently the anti-christ of dayshift. (Like I said, children here. Everyone else has cooties) Thus, L, no longer wanting to sit next to P and wanting to sit next to T, wants to take over share my desk.

I'm already not there a lot and my desk becomes a dumping ground for the death book and whatever else that can be dumped on it. I've seen the desk she already took over and.... hahaha. No. Second, I have the key to the lockable drawer at my desk. I do. I have stuff in the bottom drawer. Not much, but since I've already had stuff stolen from me without locking said drawer, it is something. And like fuck if I'm giving my drawer up. Thirdly, the red thing next to my desk? Is a rolly table thingy. It - aside from the nice distance from everyone else at night and the drawer - is why I sit there. If she's gonna sit at my desk and not want that there we are going to have issues because I cannot function without it. She can just move it back when she leaves right? Yeah, I'm sure. Just like people don't leave shit on my desk when I'm scheducled to work.

Yes, I'm pissed. Can you tell? I thought people were supposed to, you know, act mature when they grow up? I am sorely tempted to leave her a note or an email saying 'Hey, stay at your own desk, and act like the adult you supposedly are. No thanks, Jess.'

So, yeah. Nevermind that I've been there longer than L. Nevermind that I can do more things than she can. Nevermind that I'm the only coverage they have for the job that no one else but me can do. By all means, take my fucking hours and take my fucking desk.
