So, is it the aspect of spirtualism that you're more into for this, or ACD or Houdini? If the latter, I think I might have something, since I know you're into forensic shows, too.
Anyway, my idea is taking a look at ACD and other early-modern mystery writers and how their use of forensics influenced later writers, and more recently, television production (and you could go into the negative effects the pervasiveness of forensic entertainment has on the modern-day justice system, if you're interested)
