Well, I am exhausted. We left at like... I dunno, 4:20. I slept in the car til we got close to DC. Then I watched Dad be stuck in traffic for 40 minutes while I looked for street signs. We then missed the parking garage and circled the block, parked in a maze only slightly less confusing than the one at the airport and headed into the Verizon Center. We were in our seats by 6: 50 or so, after buying a shirt for me, a shirt for my mom. My dad got himself a program and a keychain.
They started at 7:40 or so.
Now, before we get on to the set list and stuff, there is going to be a bit of a rant. Mostly about people and being late. My views on which are entirely blamable on my Dad.
Okay <rant> If you're attending a concert, especially one where tickets cost $188, wouldn't most people want to, oh, I don;t know, be on time for the concert? Or better yet, actually watch the concert rather than running up into the lobby every five minutes to go buy another $7 beer? I swear, up - down. Up - down. I don't know how anyone besides us saw the whole concert. *shrug* Maybe it just seemed worse than usual because we were on the end seats. </endrant>
Alright, well, since the Eagles are so big, they don't use opening bands or pyrotechnics or any of the showy stuff other bands do. They were pretty funn, too. Glenn Frey talked a bit at the begining. That went something like this: Hello, Washington, and Welcome to the Eagles 'Assisted Living' Tour. xD *was amused* It's cool, too, they all dressed in suits, and even though they play the music loud, their sound quality is amazing. It always helps to know the lyrics to a song, but even the two or three I didn't know sounded awesome.
They opened with 'How Long', followed by 'Busy Being Fabulous'. Then, 'I Don't Want To Hear Anymore', 'Guilty of the Crime', then the awesomeness that is 'Hotel California', followed by 'Peaceful Easy Feeling'. 'I Can't Tell You Why', 'Witchy Woman', 'Boys Of Summer' <- also awesome. Then, 'In The City' and 'Long Run.' Then, they took a 15 minute break.
Came back on, played til 11. Opened this half with 'No More Walks In The Wood', 'Waiting In The Weeds'. 'No More Cloudy Days', 'Love Will Keep Us Alive', 'Take It To The Limit'. Next, they played 'Long Road Out Of Eden' - which is the title track of both their CD and the tour. It's an awesome song, like... a 10 minute song. Then, 'Somebody', 'Walk Away', and 'One Of These Nights'. Then Glenn Frey intro'd the rest of the band. The ones who're just their to play keyboard and horns and stuff, then onto the actual band members (Don Henley - who got the most applause, Tim Schmidt, and Joe Walsh - whose birthday it was.) So, then they launched into 'Life's Been Good' with a montage of Joe Walsh when he was young and equally crazy. Oh, and somewhere in the intros there was an amusing as hell comment: 'Longest note held by anybody whose head didn't blow up' In reference to the guy on the horn at the beginning of Hotel California. Lol.
Oh, right. Setlist. After the birthday thingy, they went into 'Dirty Laundry', then into 'Funk 49', 'Heartache Tonight', and 'Life In The Fast Lane'.
Encored with 'Take It Easy' and 'Desperado'.
According to the setlistwe had from another of their concerts, which they pretty much followed til the encore, they were supposed to play 'All She Wants To Do Is Dance' - Which I was rather hoping they would, since its in Real Genius and I am a dork. =)
As I said, over at 11. Took forever to get to the car. Then we got lost. Yeahhh. Fun. Took us a half an hour and a trip past the Washington Monument to figure that mess out. Safe to say, my Dad is not a fan of trips to the Verizon Center anymore.
They didn't allow cameras in, but I snapped a bunch of pics/vids with my cell phone. The quality will probably fail when I get around to messng with them, but, yeah, I'll post those eventually.
