Cain slips back into the small cabin he and Glitch are taking shelter in.
“How bad is it?” The headcase asks him, eyes on the door. They’ve been there for two days now, most of the time in darkness, and both men are getting antsy.
“Don’t freak out.” Cain swallows, blue eyes wide and terror-filled and doing nothing in the way of not making Glitch freak out.
“I guarantee nothing.” Comes Glitch’s nervous reply.
Cain accepts that and answers anyway. “We’re surrounded by Zero’s men.” In the midst of a Longcoat Rebellion, surrounded by black leather clad soldiers is not where one wants to be found.
Glitch sinks down to his knees. “What do we do? What do we do?” He echoes himself, and Cain isn’t quite sure if that was a misfiring synapse or pure terror. “Cain…”
The tin man sits beside him, an arm curling protectively around the other man’s shoulders. “We’ll get out of here. Okay, sweetheart?” He promises, even as he checks on his dismal ammunition supply once more.
