Sep. 1st, 2010 04:42 pmSo, today was the second day of classes for me (since I only have them MWF). Figured I'd wait til today to sum everything up since I didn't have one of them on Monday.
My first class, Literature of the Revolution, is the best I think. The professors a total goofball (Who can name a date in the 18th century? I'll give you a hint: there's 100 of them.) There's a shit ton of reading, but I kind of expected that in general, given that I am insane and taking 3 English courses. At least the course material is decently interesting. He's not quite as awesome as Awesome!Prof, but he's about as close as I'm getting this semester, I'm willing to bet.
Class number 2, Social Science Advanced Comp, is the class I didn't have on Monday. We were supposed to, but the Prof had to go out of town for an emergency or something (a funeral, I think). So, today was day one with him. He's... kind a trip. In a bad way. He's been teaching for like 45 years and his introduction to us started with 'I am the best professor you will ever have.' I kid you not. Exact words. So, with that egocentric opener, he went on to detail how hard it will be to get an A in his class and that we damn well better learn something from the class - not exact words. I accept this as a challenge. No one will ever be more Awesome than Awesome!Prof and if anyone ever were, it would be the WestCivI Prof from last semester that Awesome!Prof recommended. We only have like 3 750 word papers and 1 2000 word research thing - shouldn't be that hard to do. And we'll like never actually be in class for that - he looooves conferences, apparently. Oi.
Hour break for lunch follows that, and OMG the food here is delicious. And by food I do not mean junk food and pizza and ramen noodles. I mean like sandwiches and salads and pastas and such. And the occasional ice cream for dessert, but whatever.
Third class is... okay. It's Writing In History and our main assignment for the class is a 15 page research paper, but we'll do 2 smaller ones on the same topic building up to that. We've... already started researching? xD We have to have 5 sources and an official topic by next Friday. I already know whta I'm doing mine on - the shootings at Kent State in 1970 (thank you Awesome!Prof). That prof is just the slightest bit loopy, but moreso in the crazy-happy kind of loopy and not the batshitinsane kind of loopy.
The last class of the is History of Philosophy: Ancient & Medieval. The prof has a pretty strong accent but he's... decently understandable. That class has a fair amount of reading to, but again, understandable and interesting.
The roommate is okay, too. She tends to disappear off with her friends for hours at a time and I never know where she's going (I'm nice, I leave notes: 'Off to class!' or 'At lunch, see you later!') But I get nothing. I've also noticed she has a tendency to not close the door all the way - kind of unnerving, that. And she missed last night's mandatory floor meeting. So that's... not promising. The RA will ahve to hunt her down or something, cause it's certainly not my fault.
Also, I am now obsessed with BBC's Sherlock. Please stop me. I must obtain the third episode. Hnng.
