Dad and I left at like, 4:15, made it to Columbia around 5:15 or so. Stopped at the mall for dinner and then got soaked walking to the Pavilion. We had VIP passes so we got to go stand in this lounge area thing. They had clearly not planned for rain. Wet chairs and mud, yay! Did get free water and unfortunately they were also offering free beer. Oi. I bailed after a few minutes to go sit in our seats since I was still suffering significantly from sunburn. Also, mosquito bites on top of sunburn = major;y not awesome.

First band was already playing by the time I got down there. We were in the first row of the pavilion with just the pit in front of us. And we were the end two seats, which equated to a massively heavy traffic area. Especially since pretty much everyone in those seats was in the VIP group and therefore had access to free beer.

The band, right. Virginia Coalition. They were pretty good, especially when compared to the second band, SOJA. They were mellow and upbeat and pretty cool. They had one guy absolutely wailing on a keyboard and sometimes on a drum thing. They played quite a few songs and then SOJA took over.

Dad came back during the first song by SOJA. We got pre-signed posters as part of the VIP thing. He was about as impressed by SOJA as I was. I spent most of their set trying to beat the unfuckingbeatable level of Bubble Burst on my phone. He spent it playing with his camera. Not really sure what is at all appealing about them. Personally, I couldn't get passed the hair. One guy had hair that looked like it hadn't seen a brush or a shower in close to a year, another had dreads that went down to his knees. WHYYYYY? Does not compute. They ended around 8.

O.A.R. (That's Of A Revolution for those of you who don't know (which included me until I tried to find them on twitter)) started just before 9. And, I should mention that I didn't really want to go to this concert. Dad did and he couldn't get rid of his extra ticket, so I went. After making hi sit through Jonny Lang, it was only fair. I like O.A.R, I just didn't know most of their stuff. And by most of, I mean I knew one song: Shattered.

Anyway. setlist: This Town, Black Rock, Gotta Be Wrong Sometimes, Wicked Storm/52-50, Love & Memories, Lay Down, Here's To You, Dangerous Connection, Shattered, She Gone (Only In Dreams), Hey Girl, Taking On The World Today, Program Director, I Feel Home, City On Down, That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker. Encored with Over & Over, Heaven, Delicate Few, and Night Shift/Stir It Up. Some of the SOJA people came out for a couple songs. And so did some of the guys from VA Coalition. Ended at 11, we made good time getting out and home.
