Meet Radar, our new puppy. He's about 4 months old, he's a German Shepherd (mix?). We got him today (well, Wednesday, but I'm
backdating this post). Left the house around 9:45 and drove for an hour and a half down to Caroline County to get him. After a brief round of teething-is-fun, he settled down and slept on me for most of the drive back. Meeting Colby went well. Luna was not tremendously pleased, but that's okay. She's old. The cat didn't care about him and he didn't care about the cat, so that was nice - the cat definitely appreciated it, Colby's first reaction was to swat back when the cat swatted him. But then, they had cats roaming around the main office of the shelter where Radar came from.
Took us fucking forever to pick a name. Bandit was an option for a while, and we thought about keeping his shelter name - Bentley - and then Dad and I were pretty sold on Bear, but Zach protested that because of Bear on Person of Interest (ignoring that Buddy was named after the Air Bud movies). We picked Radar because it took him all of thirty minutes to locate and infiltrate the cabinet where we keep the treats. We now need child locks on said cabinet. Smart little devil.
He's super cuddly, which is nice. Colby gets a little grumpy about sharing his toys - and by his toys, I mean any toy in the house including new ones purchased for the puppy (teething ones, especially)) and old toys he never even liked. So we need to work on that.
