“Sweetheart, the Queen is asking for you.” Cain shook the other man lightly, already up and ready for the day. His lover, however, was nothing close to a morning person. DG had once called him nocturnal, but he’d come back with something about his eyes not being designed for the likes of that, and, hey, he should make some sort of eyewear that allows one to see in the dark.

“I don’t want to.” Ambrose whined, having just climbed into bed less than an hour ago - after spending all night working on the previously mentioned invention.

Cain laughed softly, sitting beside the advisor on their bed. “And why’s that?” He tugged at the covers in a further attempt to rouse the sleeping man.

“Because, I don’t feel like sitting around for the next four hours debating the logistics of another progress report when I could be doing something more productive. Like snuggling up here with you and sleeping for the rest of the day. That’s productive.”

“I agree with you one hundred percent, Ambrose. I would much rather do that than the boring official stuff we both have to do.”

“They Princesses have cooked some theory up about thermodynamics. It involves a really complicated experiment and the testing to be done is so extensive…” He continued, still wrapped In the covers he had somehow manage to pilfer away from Cain again.

Cain leaned over him, a smile playing across his features. “But, really, when you think about it, what better way is there to test the laws of thermodynamics than with actual, physical study?”

Grasping exactly what Cain was getting at, he grinned. “Oh, I agree. Best way to understand the transfer of heat is when you feel it yourself.” And this time neither of them would be hypothermic. “And you can definitely differentiate hypothesis from fact that way. Thus proving the theory that physical conduct is more productive and enjoyable than carrying out a boring experiment in the lab.

“Yes,” Cain agreed again, still hovering over the other man, his hands wandering until he felt Ambrose arch against him. “And friction is certainly a good conductor of heat. Is it, not?”

Ambrose moved to return the favor, having learned from experience how to quickly get into Cain’s tight pants. “Indeed it is. We shall go down in this history books for outstanding research!”

After that, neither of them was really up for such a vocabulary of words. And neither made it out of bed before lunch.
