“Okay, what I wanna do is… *projector screen is blank* push the button. And then… this has been one loooong, give me an ‘F’, week. Not that you guys would know what that… Yeah.” He went downhill from there, talking in his Star Trek voices for Sulu and Kirk.

Musical interludes abounded. We watched bits and pieces of ‘Easy Rider’ which I had never seen before. Interesting flick, I’ll have to check the rest of it out sometime. We played with the music in that for a bit and then all ended up sad and mopey because of the ending. Which was not cool.

“An edge, no? See? This is what’s happening. That craziness, the chaos of ’68 where we’re not sure which ends up, which way we’re going. It bleeds down into ’69. Where some folks in ’69, 70, 71… folks are all looking towards the answer. What’s the answer here? I mean, Jack Nicholson’s speech in this is perfect. It’s what you represent. And what you have in culture, especially in counterculture, is you’ve got two different way of looking at this. And lemme see which ones I got here… We got this one kinda dichotomy coming in here. Even in this counterculture it’s… we’re against the war and how do we do it. You got one side that’s still playing with… *song starts*Anyone? What’s he askin’ us to get on? Peace Train! This is Cat Stevens. “Oh, I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one…” You know, get the cell phones out, wave ‘em away. So you’ve got some folks who are for peace and peace train, but by ’69, ’70, you also got the other side to this. *another song starts playing* That other side, is this. Little bit of an edge? Little different than Peace Train. I mean, just listen to how this thing opens! “Five to one, baby. One in five. No one here gets out alive… Now you get yours, baby, I’ll get mine.We gonna make it, baby, if we try.” Right? You see what I’m after here? It’s the by ’69, ’70, the whole thing of hippies and yippies, it’s not got an edge on it. And we’re seein’ movies like Easy Rider – that ends in…? Violence. We had songs go from ‘peace train’ to ‘no one here gets out alive’, “We’re takin’ over!” And one of the best, greatest air guitar solos. And all this is going to start building and building and building. In the anti-war movement you’re gonna have some folks that are sayin’ ‘peace train’ and marches and moratoriums. Other side of the protest movement you’re gonna have folks sayin’ ‘five to one’. “Those ballroom days are over... And I’m still waitin’ for Jim to come back. When he comes back, he’s gonna bring all the answers for us. Because he’s not dead, I refuse to believe that, I keep waitin’! // Guy: He’s hanging out in Milwaukee. // Milwaukee’s where he is? Well, then that’s it. I’m going to Milwaukee. God, you guys are just as insane as I am. Good to know.”
